Lost to gun violence on September 13, 1971 in Attica, New York.
Correctional Officer Whalen died from his injuries on 10-9-1971. He was also a United States Navy veteran of the Korean War and had served with the New York State Department of Correctional Services for 12 years. Thank you for your service - RIP.
